Me and My Big Cousin

Lauren (who will be 9 on the 25th - yay!) came over Monday with Ohma and we had a great sleepover. Lauren is awesome with her little cousin - they had fun playing with toys and Lauren even practiced feeding Dagney at dinnertime. I can't wait until the new baby comes and Lauren is able to be my mother's helper...the baby just loves having her around (and so do I!).

First Tooth!

Just shy of 9 months Dagney's first tooth started to come through. Josh and I noticed that she just wasn't herself this past Sunday morning and lo and behold I spotted the central incisor coming up through her gum. Well, the rest of the day and night were miserable for her as she had a low fever and a lot of discomfort. Tylenol and ice cubes in her mesh Nuby feeder were great help. The kicker is that for a week prior to this she was finally sleeping through the night from 7:30 pm to about 6:30 am. I put off ending her middle of the night feeding for long enough...I think I wanted it more than she really needed it. I actually loved snuggling with her in her room at 3:30 am - call me crazy, but it was our special time together and I have never minded getting up with her. Plus now that I'm 6 months pregnant I'm getting up a few times to use the bathroom anyway. One tooth down and many to go!

Ohma investigates the new tooth, which to me feels like a little razor popping through. Poor baby!

Daddy attempts to elicit a smile, but Dagney is not interested.

Slumber Party with Ohma

On Saturday morning I picked up Ohma so she could hang out with us and spend the night. We had a lot of fun together playing with the baby and talking. We even ordered a pay per view movie "3:10 to Yuma" after Dagney went to bed (an interesting tidbit is that she learned a lot of English from watching Westerns when she first came to this country). We can't wait for her next visit, which I've already scheduled for President's Day!

Dagney tries her first teething bisquit and loves it.

While her California cousins enjoyed 80 degree weather, Dagney tried catching snowflakes through the sliding glass door.

Ohma's sneak attack.

A new favorite pasttime of Dagney's is sorting washcloths...not by color but by taste, of course.

Snuggle time with Daddy.

One Busy Baby

Dagney and I have been able to spend the past couple of days together napping and playing. Its definitely been therapeutic for me emotionally, but Dagney is tough to keep up with physically these days. I would say she's a "highly active" baby. Lately she enjoys standing up and pulling things off the couch, entertainment shelves or end tables and then squatting down to pick them back up. When standing and holding on to the couch she has bravely let go only to precariously balance for a second or two before hitting the floor on her bum. She has also started cruising a bit, but enjoys the squatting more for now. She's pretty vocal and there are many more sounds in her speech repertoire...she's especially good at imitating her daddy's different laughs. And while her commando crawl has always been impressive, she has been crawling on extended arms now. On the 29th we go for her 9 month check up, so we'll have an update on her weight and length.

Dagney's Little Sis

Today was an emotional day for our family, so we thought it would be nice to post a picture of Baby Bunks #2 that was taken on January 22 during our Level II ultrasound. Our baby girl has all her fingers and toes and put on a show for her daddy and me by twirling around on screen quite a bit.....perhaps ballet is in her future? We have a few names in the running for her, but haven't decided on one yet so stay tuned!
